Jesse,

I know you hate me right now. Probably will for a while. And I get it. And I’m sorry. But not enough to not do this. I have to leave. I can’t be scared that anything I do might be what snaps him. What gets me, or worse, you, killed.

I should have been better about what happened. I wasn’t because I was angry. Not at you, at him. For giving you his worst so that I couldn’t have the best. I wanted leaving to be with you, Jesse. I still want it to be with you. But I can’t make you come if you don’t want to. And I can’t stay here waiting. This guy is a wanker. But he can get me away. No-one else here will. A few little hints, and he’s eating out of my hand. Idiot. I’ll bolt the moment we’re in Perth.

I’ve written my aunt’s address below. Maybe she’ll let me stay for a few weeks and maybe she’ll slam the door in my face. Either way, I’ll have been there, if I’m not still.

We’ll need money. A car, at least. If you don’t join me, I’ll keep doing what I have to. But if you do, and I hope you do, try and scrape together what you can. I know this was our dream, but dreams only come true if you’re realistic.

I love you, Jesse. Never for a second think I don’t. I’ll be thinking about you every night and hoping you’ll join me every day. You’re the only one there ever was. And, I hope, the only one there ever will be.

I won’t hate you if you stay. But I’m gonna be selfish and ask you to leave.

Rae
